Koi Herpesvirus Disease Kills Wild Carps

ROMANIA – The Romanian veterinary authorities have reported a fresh outbreak of Koi herpesvirus disease at a lake in Buzau.


The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification on Friday, 22 August. The disease was initially observed on 8 July and confirmed on 8 August.


According to the report, 1500 carps were found susceptible, out of which three, weighing about 1 kilo, were found dead. 


The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
