Would-be Koi fish thieves caught in the act: Independence Police Blotter

Theft, Brecksville Road: Two Parma men and a Brooklyn man were caught trying to steal a Koi fish at Tricker’s just after midnight July 14. The Parma men, 18 and 19, had bought a Koi from Tricker’s, but it died 29 days later. When they went back to the business to ask for a replacement fish, the management told them they had a strict 30-day return policy. The Parma men and their accomplice were seen by a neighbor scooping up a Koi with a net and putting it in a bag. They were charged with felony theft and criminal trespassing. The Koi was returned and is valued at $1,000-1,500. 


Independence Police Car 

Grand Theft Vehicle, Quarry Lane: A Sioux Falls, South Dakota man had his van stolen from the parking lot at the LaQuinta Inn July 10. The van is valued at $7,000.


Drunken Driving, Interstate 77: A Dallas, Texas man, 41, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving July 11. The car he was driving was stopped for weaving in the roadway.


Theft, Rockside Woods Boulevard: A Cape Coral, Florida man had $400-500 worth of items stolen from his van July 14. It was parked in the Embassy Suites lot.
